Investigation Report
The investigation began at approx 2130 on Saturday 3rd July 2010 at Rothley Railway Station, Rothely, Leicestershire.
The 13 Paranormal team and guests conducting the vigils were, Dean Grant, Debbie Wilkinson, Adrian Fuller, Tess Bateman, Jane Miles, Fiona Johnstone, Kevin Crook, Tina Crook, Lee Emmerson, Lesley Emmerson and Keith Hoult.
PLEASE NOTE - Some names that were picked up on during the investigation have been omitted from this report at present to respect any family's that are still alive.
We started the nights investigation with a different approach, we decided to miss the medium walk so we could have an evening of just plain vigils.
One of the reasons for this was that no one in the team on a usual night where a medium walk would be included would not be aware of what or who was to haunt the location, this was to reduce the power of suggestion.
Team 1 consisted of myself, Fiona and Tess.
Team 2 consisted of Debbie, Lee, Lesley and Keith.
Team 3 consisted of Adrian, Kevin, Tina and Jane.
Please note for the remainder of this report, it will be about what my team 1 had experienced during the nights investigation.
The 1st vigil began with myself, Fiona and Tess down in the carriage sidings, this area was where carriages that were to be restored were stored until they were needed. Upon walking down to this area certain carriages seemed to attract us. Tess was picking up at 1 of the carriages a young girl who was with her family, Tess told us that the coach was possibly hired by the little girls family or that they had the coach to themselves at one point. Tess told us that there was a connection with a Train Guard with the coach, and that he had a connection to this family of the young girl.We then moved on down towards the main railway line which would at a time taken passengers towards London Marylebone. As we were walking Tess started to pick up on a male presence with a dog and that he was walking down the line away from us. I called out to see if we could get a response, upon doing this we heard a tap which sounded exactly like as if someone had kicked the steel rail line. We called out again and we heard another noise which sounded like a piece of ballast (stones that keep the railway sleepers in place), had been thrown towards us. We headed towards where this male spirit was and doing so I then felt as if something had rubbed against my legs, this felt like to me as if a dog had brushed past me. We then moved back towards the station but as we did so we heard a large bang coming from one of the wagons, but when we went to investigate we could find nothing or anybody that could have done this.
As we continued to walk back Tess was picking up on this male presence with the dog again, she felt as if this male spirit had been walking his dog on the track and unfortunately he did not hear the train coming and got killed, this was later verified by the staff as being correct and that it was in the records.
After a quick break we started with the 2nd vigil which was held at the northern end of the station on the track. As we walked down the platform ramp towards this area, Tess was picking up on a small boy who had fallen off the platform and had been hit by a passing train, she felt as if the mother of the boy would come back in visitation to mourn her passing son. As we moved further down the track we came across another young boy who was of Indian descent and that he had died from his injuries obtained from falling down the embankment and cracking his head open on the steel track below. While Tess and Fiona were getting further details to these 2 incidents I was attracted further down the line, I felt as if there was a Permanent Way gang still working away, I called out for them to do something and apart from a few noises which sounded a long way away I got nothing. So upon returning to Tess and Fiona we decided to ask the Permanent Way workers to throw a piece of ballast to us upon throwing one at them, as soon as I did this we got a response, which sounded as if a stone had been thrown back, we tried this 3 times and every time we did this we got a response back. Due to this activity we brought out the Franks Box, a Franks Box is a modified radio which does a continuous scan and does not stop on any radio frequency, it is said that as spirits are on different frequency's they would be able to communicate with us through the box, so basically this box gives the spirit's a voice. We started the Franks Box and asked the spirits to talk to us, especially the 2 small boys who had lost their lives at the station and were very prominent, as we were asking for the boy who had been hit by the train to stop the box, it then stopped on what sounded like classical music, we were shocked by this as the Franks Box is designed not to stop on any channel, so we switched the box off and back on again. As we were calling out, Tess was picking up on the Indian child who had cracked his head open, and as she was getting more information about the child the Franks Box stopped once again, but this time it stopped on Indian music, we left the box playing this in case the spirit of the boy was trying to talk to us through the music, apart from the music no voices were caught. We switched the box off and on again and then restarted the process, literally as soon as this started there was the sound of a train coming through the box, it sounded like a steam train with a lot of coaches passing us at speed, this noise then disbanded and music started to play through it again, this time it sounded like a piano being played. During this music being played through the box I said that I was going to switch the Franks Box off and on again to reset it and before I was able to do this there was this almighty bang which emanated behind us, as we turned around there was nothing there, and upon investigation of the noise it sounded as if someone had stomped their foot on one of the railway sleepers. We then began the walk back to the station but as we did Tess became very emotional which later we found out, it was the mother of the boy who had been hit by a train who had been picked up on earlier and that she was sending her feelings through Tess making her very emotional, after this had happened we decided to have a break.
After the break we moved onto the 3rd and final vigil of the night on the platform which included some of the station buildings.
We went into the parcels office where Tess upon arriving at the location earlier in the night had picked up on a male spirit who used to work in the office, and that this spirit had shouted the words 'get out' to her as she had popped her head around the corner, we spent some time in the office and apart from a few taps and knockings it was very quiet.
We then moved down to the southern end of the platform and sat on the platform seats, again it was very quiet, due to this we then moved onto the waiting room so we could try some glass divination, we began by placing our fingers on the top of the glass and asked if their was any spirits with us who would like to communicate with us by pushing the glass giving us either a 'yes' or 'no' answer to our questions, the glass began moving instantly once we started asking the questions. However unfortunately as this part of the vigil began to unfold we found out that the spirit moving the glass was connected to me so therefore I will not be disclosing any further details of the rest of this vigil as it is personal to me.
All the other teams had investigated the same areas and I have since completed analyzing the footage from all the teams cameras, and it was very intriguing that the same info was being picked up by each group and the activity ranged greatly.
Team 2 had caught many light anomaly's and some very strange knockings from when they were down in the carriage sidings which were to the southern end of the station. They also got some tapping's from within the parcel office and the Franks Box that was used at the northern end of the station also did stop on particular music being played, which eerily played classical and Indian music which was played from when my team was down there.
Team 3 had also caught many light anomaly's, the majority seemed to come from on the platform and its buildings. I had picked up on a group of Permanent Way workers at the northern end of the platform on trackside when my group was down there, and it was interesting to find out that Kevin had also picked up on the same group, however he had picked up on the fact that this group of workers had been hit by a train whilst fixing a part of the track known as a fishplate, a fishplate is what holds 2 steel rails together if it is made up of a selection of separate sections of rail. Kevin had said that the Permanent Way workers possibly hadn't heard the train coming and was therefore killed on site.
The investigation finished at 0330 on Sunday 4th July 2010.
We did carry out an experiment throughout the night, this involved each team to take a Franks Box and to see if we could get some communication with the spirits through them. We managed to get particular words through the box which included, 'im dead', 'ghost' and 'help me', and we also got music through the boxes, a big success we all thought.
We also left a lock off camera looking up the footbridge which had many reports of strange mists and light anomaly's going up and down it, we have caught a great selection of anomaly's but I am still analyzing this footage, so when I have more firm explanations of these light anomaly's they will be listed.
In all, the investigation was a success, certain areas were more active than others but this is expected in all locations that are investigated.
We are planning a return to this location for the 2011 investigations as we all felt there was more to be found out, so keep your eyes peeled.
Team Managers Note - Please note that all footage, audio clips and photos taken on all investigations are always thoroughly analysed for evidence and because of this it is an on-going process. Any evidence that we find will be displayed on the website once we are satisfied of its authenticity.
