Investigation Report
The investigation began at approx 2100 on Saturday 2nd April 2011 at Unstone Grange.
The investigation started with the medium walk with our Spiritualist Medium Adrian Fuller.
Please note some names have been omitted from this report in case of any living relatives that may still be alive.
We started in the Beech Room, and in this room Adrian picked up on numerous spirits and names given to us were, Patricia, Jessie and Harry. Jessie was a maid for the master of the house who is called Harry, it seemed Harry had been slowly poisoned as he came to the end of his life and he died in the Grange, and it seemed that one of the maids that worked with him was the one poisoning him, but the interesting thing that Adrian picked up on was that their seemed to be a love triangle, this triangle was between Harry, Jessie and the maid that poisoned him, Harry loved the maid that poisoned him but this maid didn't love him back, however Jessie loved Harry but Harry didn't love Jessie back, although Jessie made it very clear that she was madly in love with him and it seemed he didn't want to be with her in that way, although after death Jessie and Harry are now together at the Grange.
We then moved to the Ash Room and as soon as we walked in everyone felt a negative feel to the place, Adrian picked up on a gentleman who had died a slow and agonizing death, the symptom's that were given was stomach pains, fever and loss of hair. Then Adrian picked up on a lady who was saying to him 'Lord Help Him', this maids name was later given up and her name was May, and it seems that Harry even after death was making it clear that he would throw items at people that shouldn't be there, plus the sounds of moans and groans may be heard regularly to anyone who slept in that room.
We then went to the Rowan Room, in here Adrian picked up on a woman called Patricia, she was in her late 50's and was a very thin woman, she seemed also to look very wild and unkempt, possibly suffered from a mental condition which made her crazy especially when she was locked in this particular room, at this point Adrian did feel that the Grange may have been used as a hospital or a mental home for a few years, the location did give some signs of what it may have been used for in the past but this was very impressive to us.
The next room we went to was the Cedar Room, straight away a male figure was picked up on, he was a Londoner who said to Adrian 'Gordon Bennett', he seemed a very funny and chatty man, and was at one stage a servant to the owners of the Grange, it seems he used to work in the laundry room, the name given was Charlie Slater.
This location was huge inside and there were at least 30 plus rooms, so we had plenty of space to investigate and get lost in!
With all this in mind we decided to start the vigils.
The group split into 3 teams due to the overall size of the location. The teams consisted of the following 13 Paranormal Team Members and Guests.
Team 1 - Dean Grant, Stephanie Watson and Debbie Wilkinson
Team 2 - Nicola Horton, Steve Virgo, Susan Sharpe and Lisa Bryan
Team 3 - Adrian Fuller, Jason Bond, Anita Rayner, Kyle Klacska, Haydn Coulwill and Andy Dabbs.
Please note for the remainder of this report, it will be about what Team 1 had experienced during the remainder of the nights investigation.
We started the 1st vigil in the South Lounge, although this room was not visited during the medium walk, we were tempted to go in there as there was a piano present and we had an experiment to try which involved us playing some piano keys and seeing if the spirits could play the keys back to us, unfortunately none of the keys were played back, however we did decide to then try to use the dowsing rods, to which these gave up some answers to our questions, but as this room seemed quiet we moved across the corridor to the Main Lounge, in here we started seeing lights and started to hear a few tapping's, so again we started to use the dowsing rods, and we got some very interesting response's, but unfortunately some information given to us through the dowsing rods was personal to myself so I will not list what was given through the rods. This ended the 1st vigil.
The 2nd Vigil was held on the top floor attic area, which 2 rooms occupied and they were the Walnut and Willow Rooms, as soon as we came into the Willow Room I started to pick up on a boy child who the room may have been his bedroom at one stage, we started calling out and unfortunately nothing was happening, so we started another experiment where we left 3 torches on one of the beds and we asked the boy child to turn them on and off, and again nothing happened, about 30 minutes into this vigil I then started to pick up on a negative male presence in the doorway, and as I approached I knew someone was there, and what surprised us is on camera during the viewing of the footage we caught 2 light anomalies coming from the door, and after further analysis we still can't rationalise the lights, they are defiantly not dust or a fly, this is due to how they move and the speed of them. We moved across the corridor to the Walnut Room and we sat down but as soon as we did that there was a thud coming from the wardrobe, we asked the spirit to make the noise again but nothing happened, as this vigil came to a close other groups were informing us of 3 figures walking past a window, someone talking, piano keys being played and thuds in response to questions, it seemed the spirits didn't want to play with my group, but not deterred we got ready for the next vigil.
So it was now the 3rd and final vigil which we held in the Beech Room, this was the room where Adrian had picked up on numerous spirits and seemed to be where Harry the master of the Grange started to get poisoned, although a large and very cold room it seemed a very comfortable one, so we started with the vigil and as soon as we did we started getting thumping sounds on the floor in response to our questions, but what we didn't know was that during this vigil our group was being surrounded by clusters of lights, although on the night we didn't physically see the lights the cameras picked them up, and these were found during the footage review. After 40 minutes of calling out in the Beech Room it seemed to get quiet so we then moved to the Oak Room, this room again was very quiet but after the review of footage we did come across numerous light anomalies and some strange tapping sounds, but unfortunately the investigation came to an end, and overall everyone had picked up on different things as well as experiencing them.
Unstone Grange is a very interesting location and well worth another visit and we all felt it had so much more to offer, so we will be looking at a return visit in our 2012 investigations.
The investigation finished at 0400 on Sunday 3rd April 2011.
In all, the investigation was a success, certain areas were more active than others but this is expected in all locations that are investigated.
Team Managers Note - Please note that all footage, audio clips and photos taken on all investigations are always thoroughly analysed for evidence and because of this it is an on-going process. Any evidence that we find will be displayed on the website once we are satisfied of its authenticity.
